I am offering for sale my BIC FM-10 Beam Box, an indoor antenna which I bought years ago when living in the city. I mention living in the city because, at least when I was living in an area densely populated with apartment buildings, I got horrible FM reception. With a dipole antenna, there was all kinds of multipath distortion, which happens when multiple signals hit the tuner at the same time. The signal breaks up and/ or you get hissing and other nasty sounds along with the music you WANT to hear. I was having all of these issues and when I heard about the Beam Box, I had to buy one. With the Beam Box, I was able to adjust it to a point where I could get a clean signal.Fast forward a few years. I live now 40 miles outside of the city. Now I had the opposite problem, a reception problem
of just being able to get a decent signal. This issue
was solved by an outdoor antenna, The bottom line is the Beam Box is essential for people who live in a city and have multipath signal problems. However, for those who live more than 30 miles from the stations they want to listen to, I recommend an outside antenna, such as the Magnum Dynalab.
I tested the Beam Box a few days ago and it works great. at least as well as it can being 40 miles from the FM stations I used to check it. The switches all work. The caps on the two right control knobs on the front are missing. The 75 ohm output is a little loose. I tested the Beam Box using that output. There are scuffs but no deep scratches on the top of the unit. Some of those could be buffed out.
